“Mark Heard’s first recorded project is extremely hard to find, but certainly is well
worth the digging (and the dollars/trade it’ll cost once you find one). Jim Evans
and Terry Rogers join Heard on guitar and vocals. Grace Miller and Cathy Dunn add
vocals. Mike Decastro shares bass duty with Heard and plays keyboards, and Jimmy
Moore is the drummer. Heard handles harmonica chores. The songs include a couple
of nice covers: the traditional ‘All My Trials’ and Clapton’s ‘Presence of the Lord.’
Contributing five of the eleven, Heard’s songs resemble this period’s James Taylor,
musically and lyrically foreshadowing the future of one of ccm’s best singer/songwriters.
This alone makes it worth the hunt. Of the multitude of co-ed folk bands of the time,
this one is a cut above.” — Bob Felberg at
